If you haven’t watched the 2001 “thriller” Ajnabee starring Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Bobby Deol, you have probably missed out on a gem of Bollywood. As the film completes 20 years of its release on September 21, Lord Bobby, in a conversation with Hindustan Times, said that the movie was ahead of its time and we can’t agree more.

For Bobby, it was a great experience to work with everyone and he doesn’t feel the movie was released 20 years back. “First of all, it doesn’t feel 20 years since it was released. It feels like it was yesterday that we got together and shot this film. It was such a great experience working with everyone,” he shares about the Abbas-Mustan directorial. 

He continued, “When I was working with Abbas-Mustan on Soldier (1998), at that point they thought of me giving the character, which Akshay essayed, and eventually, they thought I was better suited for another character, which I ended up playing. And Akshay did a great job.” 

Talking about the storyline and the plot, Bobby said that the movie explored a topic that wasn’t done by many and it was a bold move. He said, “That’s the reason it did so well. At that point when it was released, the film was actually ahead of its time. But now, things have changed. Now, we see a lot of different subjects being explored on screen. (There is no denying) Ajnabee was not just a movie, it changed a lot of things.” 

Irrespective of whether it was way ahead of its time or not, we're glad that it's a thing of the past now and we don't have to sit through it again. However, since we are talking about the movie, there were three scenes we found to be ridiculously bizarre and we feel you should check them out too. 

1. Bobby Knows How To Propose 

There's a scene wherein Bobby is seen stalking Kareena and finally ends up meeting her father. Unlike in real life, everything turns out well for Bobby and he manages to propose the love of his life. 

Here’s how the biggest proposal unfolds: 

Kareena: The Polo Club is sending one coach to Switzerland, and not two. 

Bobby: But the coach’s wife can go with him, right?

It was a next-level cringe-fest. 

2. Bipasha Playing The Piano In Creepiest Way Possible

If we were in the place of Bobby Deol who was enjoying seeing Bipasha play piano, we would have run away because who wants to have nightmares of someone playing piano in the most bizarre way possible. More interestingly, the piano continues to play even when she's dancing. What the hell is really happening? The scene looked like she was making love to the piano and not playing it.

3. Wife Swapping, Really?

Things got really weird by the time Akshay decided to suggest wife swapping to Bobby. It didn’t just stop here. It escalated from being weird to illogical when you see Bobby getting up in Bipasha’s bed as she lies naked but he fails to remember if they spent the night together. And later, he was arrested for Bipasha’s murder. But, as we all know everything was planned and she was alive only to be murdered by Bobby.

There are many more sequences that we found illogical but these three top them all.
