David Warner Drops Big News About Future With SRH & The Upcoming IPL Mega Auction 2021

Australian star cricketer, David Warner has opened up about his future with the SunRisers Hyderabad franchise of the Indian Premier League and how he plans to put his name in the upcoming Mega-Auction ahead of the 2022 season of the tournament.

"I will put my name in the auction. By the signs of the recent IPL, I won't be retained by the Sunrisers, so I'm looking forward to a fresh start," Warner told SEN radio.

Warner also spoke about what really happened when he was stripped of his role as the team captain and dropped from the Playing XI in the middle of the first leg of the 2021 season.

“I kind of laughed at the reasoning, that two guys were hitting the ball out of the middle a little bit better than I was. Given that when you're playing the game you're playing the scenario," he said.

"Obviously, there are a lot of moving parts around there. What you have to do as a professional athlete is take it on the chin do everything you can for the team. Not being able to go there, run drinks, and be around was when it sort of hit home that it could be personal, and I'm still yet to get those answers," he added.

The entire cricketer fraternity, including some of the biggest names of international cricket like Graeme Swann, had also batted for Warner he the SRH franchise made released the statement about dropping Warner from the playing roster.

"It seems like a message has been given to David Warner after that press conference where he passed the buck that this is not my decision but the selectors'. Someone's not happy about it, and unhappy enough to get rid of him as the skipper and drop him from the team. It looks like punishment to me more than anything," Swann had said on Star Sports back in May.

2021 turned out to be the worst season that Warner had to go through since his debut year back in 2009. Despite being healthy, the Australian opener only got to play in 8 matches, while scoring a total of 195 runs.

Nonetheless, on Thursday in the T20 World Cup 2021 match against Sri Lanka, the southpaw showed some hints of the phenomenal form he was in just a year ago.

One day after turning 35-years-old, the Australia cricketer celebrated his birthday in great fashion after striking what is by far his greatest innings of the 2021 cricketing season across all formats of the game.

It took him just 31 deliveries to make to his well-deserved half-century. His steady innings allowed him to stay on the pitch almost till the very end.

However, even though he lost his wicket in the 15th over, the damage was already done. The Aussies took just two more overs to defeat Sri Lanka.
