5 Bollywood Movies That Received Terrible IMDB Ratings But Were Actually Pretty Great

There are a few things in life that are always subjective - love, your wardrobe and choice of movies. And one thing that I’ve come to realise keeping that in mind is that in the case of Bollywood, IMDb is seldom to be trusted.

During a quick search on the IMDb website, I realised that some of the most entertaining and even decent movies had been slapped with some horrible ratings. At times because a majority of the people generally didn’t like the movie and other times simply because people love to hop on the nepotism train and get on board with the callout culture for the sake of it.

Here are a bunch of movies that even though got terrible ratings, weren’t all that bad.

This Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt starrer action thriller kept us hooked about the suspense till the very end and wasn’t as bad as public reviews may have made it seem. With the movie being set on the sea, it came across as a breath of fresh air topped with some entertainment and a hot song by Kylie Minogue.

Kaalakaandi

A rather underrated movie by Saif Ali Khan that didn’t receive the critical acclaim it probably deserved, Kaalakaandi was a movie based on a character who finds out he is terminally ill and decides to drop all of his inhibitions to go on an outrageous bender.

Starring Akshay Kumar and Aishwaya, this movie wasn’t as hit as the star cast, however we would be lying if we didn’t admit just how clever the script was and how many times the movie had us rolling to the sides with Akshay Kumar’s comic timing and Aish’s impeccable dialogue delivery.

Khatta Meetha

Another Akshay Kumar starrer, this film flew under the radar, partly because of the weak promotions and partly because it was made on a low budget. However, this comic drama trails the life of an ambitious contractor beautifully as he struggles in all aspects of his life - personal and professional.

A rather controversial addition to the list, but one that in my opinion deserves to be here, simply because of the kind of effort that went into making it. Not to forget the near perfect acting that both Kareena Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan delivered. It may have created a buzz with its release, but still didn’t receive the kind of praise it deserved.
