North Koreans Banned From Laughing For 10 Days & The Reason Is More Ridiculous Than The Ban

North Korea is infamous for its cruel government rule, bad human rights situation and atrocities the citizens face. The unreasonable restrictions and bans make the lives of people living in the country incredibly difficult.

In another such horrible ban, they have now been prohibited to laugh for a period of 10 days.

If you think this is ridiculous, wait till you hear the reason for this ban.

It is imposed to observe the death anniversary of the former Korean leader Kim Jong-il, the father of current president Kim Jong-un

This year will mark the 10th death anniversary of Kim Jong-il on 17th December and thus, citizens are required to enter the mourning period for 10 days.

Every year, the country observes the morning period during which people are not allowed to drink alcohol, go shopping (even for groceries) or enjoy any leisure activities.

In addition to these restrictions, this year, people will not be allowed to even laugh, or they would face serious consequences.

"In the past, many people who were caught drinking or being intoxicated during the mourning period were arrested and treated as ideological criminals," the unnamed citizen said adding, "They were taken away and never seen again," an unnamed resident told a leading daily.

They are not even allowed to carry funeral rites or celebrate birthdays during this period.

"Even if your family member dies during the mourning period, you are not allowed to cry out loud and the body must be taken out after it's over. People cannot even celebrate their own birthdays if they fall within the mourning period,” he added.

People on social media are feeling sorry for those living in North Korea and saying it’s highly unfair. Some are laughing at the rule saying it’s the most ridiculous they have come across. And, they are not wrong.

Here is how people are reacting.

If the above news is true then I feel very sorry for those residing in North Korean cos this is oppression; I feel so upset that other governmental bodies & unions are letting such a tyranny govt go unchecked. What happen to the people having Human Rights? This is wickedness.

It’s always weirding me out how much millions of people can take from their insane leaders without fighting back or even support him
