Did You Know Vicky Auditioned For This Role In Ranveer's 83? Here's Why He Opted Out

Kabir Khan's much-hyped biographical drama 83, featuring Ranveer Singh in the role of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev, was released last week during the Christmas weekend. The biopic also stars Saqib Saleem, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu among others in pivotal roles and every actor has got a positive response for their performances in 83. But did you know that Vicky Kaushal too had auditioned for a role in the movie?

Well, according to the latest buzz, Vicky was initially considered for the role of cricketer Mohinder Amarnath in 83. Yes, you read that right! The actor had auditioned for the role before the release of his 2018 hit Raazi and Kabir Khan was keen to have him in 83.Β

Revealing the same, a source told TOI, "The audition happened before 'Raazi' released and became hit, after which he preferred to opt-out of the project as he didn't want to play the second lead in the film. Although Kabir Khan was keen that Vicky play Mohinder Amarnath's role".

Well, that's understandable. Later, Saqib was finalised for the role in the biopic and he has done a good job. After the film's Mumbai premiere, Mohinder Amarnath even praised Saqib's performance and gifted him his lucky charm, a red handkerchief.

The biopic, which was released on the big screens on December 24, got rave reviews from critics and fans. However, its performance at the box office is disappointing.Β

Coming back to Vicky, the actor got married to Katrina Kaif in Rajasthan earlier this month. After taking a small break, the actor resumed work and is currently shooting for his upcoming film with Sara Ali Khan in Indore. His lineup includes some interesting projects including Sam Bahadur with Dangal girls Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh and Govinda Naam Mera co-starring Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani.Β
