'Money Heist: Korea' Teaser Leaves People Thanking Netflix For Ruining The Original

The global phenomenon that was the Spanish show La Casa de Papel aka Money Heist ended in December 2021 and a month later, we have now come across an official Korean remake of the show titled Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area.

The first teaser of the show was recently released by Netflix and introduced us to the new Professor played by Yoo Ji-tae, Berlin played by Park Hae-soo, Tokyo played by Jun Jong-seo and Nairobi played by Jang Yoon-ju.

The teaser also showed other popular characters of the show - Moscow, Denver, Rio, Helsinki & Oslo.

Not just that, the famous Dali mask also made an appearance in the teaser.

Going by the 1-minute and 23-second teaser, Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area seems like a pretty faithful remake, so much so, that they have even used the same cities to name their key characters.

It has to be seen what sort of changes they have made to the show in comparison to the original.

Take a look at the teaser below:

The teaser has got a wide array of responses from fans and pop culture nerds around the world.

While there are some who have faith in Korean cinema and are sure only they can do a remake right, there are many who are questioning the need for a remake of a global hit show that was watched by a lot of people around the world.

One user asked, “Is Subtitles banned in their country? Why do you have to remake a whole show?”

Another wrote, “TNks for ruining the show ..& still no one in the show can’t match Berlin”

A user simply wondered why this remake exists while another mentioned that he is just “looking forward to the Korean rendition of Bella Ciao”.
