Big B's 'Sooryavansham' Among All-Time Top 5 Hindi Films On TV & Here Are The Others

Goldmines Telefilms head Manish Shah is currently basking in the huge success of the Hindi dubbed version of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise

While the original Telugu film is backed by Mythri Movie Makers, the rights of its Hindi version are with Goldmines Telefilms. For the unversed, Goldmines Telefilms YouTube channel is India’s fourth-largest in terms of subscriptions.

It is also instrumental in releasing most of the South Indian films in dubbed Hindi versions for North Indian audiences.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Manish Shah opened up about how he started with the Hindi dubbed release of Nagarjuna’s Telugu hit Mass (Meri Jung: One Man Army in Hindi) and since then there was no looking back for him.

Besides holding the Hindi rights of most of the South Indian films, Shah also owns the rights to the Amitabh Bachchan starrer cult hit Sooryavansham. The film was a flop at the box office but over the years has become one of the most-watched films and frequently airs on TV.

While talking about the huge success of Sooryavansham on satellite, Manish Shah went on to reveal that the Amitabh Bachchan starrer is among the top five biggest films on TV of all time.

Besides Sooryavansham (1999), the other four films he named in the list include Sholay (1975), Nayak (2001), Taarzan: The Wonder Car (2004) and Singham (2011).

He said, “(Sooryansham) is an evergreen movie. If you ask the top 5 films on the satellite of all time, the answer is Sholay, Nayak, Sooryavansham, Taarzan: The Wonder Car and Singham .”

The interesting thing to note here is that Sholay is one of the biggest blockbusters of all time and Singham is a super hit, the other three films in the top 5 list - Sooryavansham, Nayak & Taarzan: The Wonder Car were huge flops.
