5 Akshay Kumar Films Which Were The Remake Of A South Indian Blockbuster


Akshay Kumar is a hit machine and why not, the guy works round the clock, throughout the year and is one of the highest tax payers of the country. While heโ€™s known to have a Midas touch for his movies, a lot of them are mass entertainers because they are either inspired or remade from another big hit. Here are 5 movies which were a remake of South Indian hits:

1. Hera Pheri

This blockbuster is a remake of a Priyadarshan movie titled Ramji Rao Speaking. This comedy features Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu in lead roles.

2. Rowdy Rathore

Featuring Akshay and Sonakshi in the lead roles, this Prabhu Deva directorial is a Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Vikramarkudu, which was originally directed by S. S. Rajamouli.

3. Laxmii

The Hindi version was a commercial dud but the film is based on 2011 Kanchana. The Bollywood version of the film starred Akshay along with Kiara Advani and was directed by Raghav Lawrence.

4. Bhool Bhulaiya

This super hit film which is coming up with its own sequel, was originally based on the Malayalam movie Manichitrathazhu. The horror comedy movie starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Paresh Rawal.

5. Holiday

This movie is a Hindi version of the Tamil blockbuster Thuppakki starring Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal. The Tamil and the Hindi version were directed by A. R. Murugadoss.
