Mitchell Starc’s Reaction To Wife Alyssa Healy’s 100 Shows What Partner-Support Looks Like

Alyssa Healy, Australia's wicketkeeper-batter, slammed an astounding 170 off just 138 deliveries in the Women's World Cup final against England on Sunday, setting a new record.

At the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, her knock helped Australia to a fantastic score of 356/5. Healy broke Adam Gilchrist's record of 149 for the highest score in an ODI World Cup final (men or women).

Healy also became only the second woman to score a century in the Women's World Cup final. Mitchell Starc, her husband who is always there for her important matches, and one of the most destructive fast bowlers in international cricket, was also present during the game and had a wonderful reaction as Healy achieved her century in just six deliveries.

Take a look at how Starc responded to Healy's 100th run of the game:

Starc also ensured that he would be present in New Zealand to support his wife for the remainder of Australia’s World Cup campaign. So, as soon as Australia won the Test series in Pakistan with a 1-0 margin, the pacer took the first flight out and landed in the land of the Kiwis to do just that.

Mitchell Starc, who took 27 wickets in the 2015 ODI World Cup, holds the record for most wickets taken in a single edition of the tournament, and Healy holds the record for most runs scored in a single Women's World Cup innings.

Healy finished the 2022 World Cup with 509 runs, becoming the first woman to reach the 500-run milestone in the tournament's history.

Healy hit 26 fours in a ferocious 138-ball performance in Christchurch, only four days after smashing 129 in the semi-final against West Indies. Before being stumped by Amy Jones off-seamer Anya Shrubsole, the batsman led 100-run partnerships with fellow opener Rachael Haynes (68) and number three Beth Mooney (62).

At 316 for two, Healy walked out to a standing ovation, having cemented her reputation as the ultimate big-game player, two years after striking a 39-ball 75 against India in the 2020 T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
