When you see a traditional Indian quilt, also known as a 'Razai', a Sherwani inspired by it is perhaps the last thing you'd think of. 

But, Ayushmann Khurrana just wore one, and our jaws have hit the floor. Take a look!

Created by Kolkata based designer-duo Debarghya and Navonil (famously addressed as Dev R Nil) and styled by celebrity stylist Isha Bhansali, Ayushmann's sherwani just reminded us of the intricacy and richness traditional Indian arts and crafts have to offer, but are often sidelined by mainstream fashion.

The design of the Sherwani is based on the super-fine detailing of the traditional Indian mandala/rangoli patterns found on embroidered Razais.

Traditional hand embroidery artists and tailors from Serampore have meticulously translated the regal, intricate designs into an extremely 'wearable' Sherwani that looks straight out of a fashion masterclass.

Pieces like these are just a reminder that it's time for us to look at the priceless treasure hidden within our own arts and crafts, and that there is a huge potential for sartorial gems to be excavated from there. Kudos!
