This Gorgeous Flying Taxi Was Unveiled At CES & Will Be A Part Of Uber's Fleet Very Soon

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a wonderful time, where new technologies, gadgets and now flying taxis are unveiled at the annual tech conference.

This is Bell's Nexus, a hybrid-electric propulsion flying taxi that can take off and land vertically. It uses six tilting ducted fans to take off and can be used from a rooftop or a launchpad.

The best part is that one can hail this flying taxi from Uber's aerial service very soon.

"As space at the ground level becomes limited, we must solve transportation challenges in the vertical dimension -- and that's where Bell's on-demand mobility vision takes hold," Bell CEO Mitch Snyder said in a statement

"The industry has anticipated the reveal of our air taxi for some time, so Bell is very proud of this moment. We believe the design, taken with our strategic approach to building this infrastructure, will lead to the successful deployment of the Bell Nexus to the world,” he added.

Bell is one of the first aircraft manufacturers that is teaming up with Uber to provide flying taxis and has a plan to create a network of city-based flying taxis.

At CES this week Bell showed off its first scaled concept and is aiming to have them in operation by the “mid-2020s,” said Scott Drennan, in an interview with The Verge.

“This is not a toy,” Drennan told The Verge. “This is an aircraft you would feel safe and comfortable bringing your family into.” The Verge also reports that Bell won't have a working prototype until closer to its official launch.
