The World Came Together To Wish Farewell As Emiliano Sala's Body Was Finally Identified

The worst nightmares have come to reality for Horacio Sala, the father of the 28-year-old footballer, Emiliano Sala after the Cardiff City striker's body was finally identified by the Dorset police.

Shortly after the body was brought to the Portland Port, HM Coroner for Dorset declared to the public that it was recovered from amidst the plane's wreckage and was in fact that of Emiliano Sala, whose jet mysteriously vanished from the air traffic control's radar on 22nd January 2019.

In what can only be considered as the final moments of Sala, the footballer got in touch with his father with a WhatsApp voicemail in which he sounded nervous and scared for his life. "If in an hour and a half you have no news from me, I don't know if they are going to send someone to look for me because they cannot find me. But you know… Dad, I am so scared," he had said.

Horacio Sala had opened up to the press a couple of days after the voicemail came out when he said:  “He (Emiliano) was so happy that he was going there (Cardiff), to an even bigger club… He was doing too well, he was playing so well, and then this news… There are no words to describe the feeling.”

Sala was a talented young star was had just signed a major deal with an English Premier League team, Cardiff City FC and was supposed to join his new team for a practice session a day after his unfortunate disappearance took place. He was loved by fans from both his previous team, Nantes, a French Ligue 1 team and Cardiff, equally, who came out in huge numbers to show their condolences with candles, jerseys and big colourful banners.

In one of the most heartbreaking moments ever since, Emiliano's sister Romina Sala shared a picture on Facebook of his dog, Nala calmly waiting by the door, for the footballer to come back home.

Fans from all over the world came together to mourn over the untimely demise of the Argentinian:

No father should suffer the pain of attending his own child's funeral but here, the silver lining is that at least his family can have a proper farewell now that the body was recovered.

Cardiff City FC said in a statement: “We offer our most heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of Emiliano. He and David will forever remain in our thoughts.”
