Based on the Battle of Saragarhi, 'Kesari' traces the journey of the 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment, who despite being outnumbered, fought against the Afghan army in the 1890s until their last breath.
The makers of the film have been releasing the film's promos in parts, and going by the first three promos we can easily tell that the film is going to be epic. The short promos from the film are enough to set us at the edge of our chairs and stir our curiosity about this lesser known event in Indian history.
We bring you 5 interesting facts about 'Kesari' ahead of its release.
1. 'Kesari' is based on a real life historical battle that was fought on 12th of September in 1897. The battle pitted 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army against 10,000 Afghan Orakzai tribesmen.
2. Akshay Kumar will be seen essaying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, who was the leader of the 36th Sikh Regiment, and had the reputation of being a feisty and experienced sergeant. Akshay will be learning sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat for the action scenes in the film. As per reports, the film has been shot in parts of Mumbai, Wai and Jaipur, where an old-worldly looking set was created for the shoot.
