Bill Gates is no longer the world's richest man. He's currently ranked the worldâs second-richest man with a $118 billion fortune. That, in case you can't figure out, is still a ton of money, plenty to afford a luxury Superyacht.
Bill Gates, 64, is just an ordinary holidaymaker who has not previously owned a yacht. He used to rent them out whenever he wanted to get a breath of fresh air on the sea. But he now decided to invest in a one-of-a-kind Yacht that's worth more any of us can even imagine.
Here are a few things to know about Bill Gates' new purchase, the Aqua Ship -
Liquid Hydrogen As Fuel
The Aqua ship is fitted with two 28-tonne vacuum-sealed tanks that are cooled to extremely cold temperatures. We're talking temperatures around -423F (-253C) and filled with liquid hydrogen. It's the only fuel that's used to power the ship.

In case you don't know, the emissions from the industry and transport make up for over 75-percent of the world's carbon footprint and it's highly important that we extend any help to bring down that number. Bill Gates is just doing his part, which often involves a lot of money.
This, by the way, isn't the only investment he's made on his quest to find alternative fuels. He is also an investor in Heliogen, a startup that aims to turn sunlight into a fossil furl replacement. It's the first company in the world to concentrate sunlight to reach temperatures that are high enough to power heavy machinery without carbon emissions.
Pricing & Availability
The Aqua ship is truly one of the luxurious transport that I've ever seen. It's both beautiful and functional at the same time, with hardly anything to complain about. Speaking about the yacht, the marine designer Sander Sinot said, "For the development of Aqua we took inspiration from the lifestyle of a discerning, forward-looking owner, the fluid versatility of water and cutting-edge technology, to combine this in a superyacht with truly innovative features."
Aqua isn't expected to hit the shores until 2024 and Bill Gates is the first one to order the vessel that's estimated to cost a whopping $644m i.e roughly Rs 4,600 crores. Well, Bill Gates used to rent out Yachts worth $300m, so if anything this is only going to save him money in the long run. Oh, and it's cheaper what India is spending on the custom jets for the President and the PM. Just saying.
Check out the Aqua here.
