Mangal Pandey - history will tell you about the many tales of bravery this soldier inspired, before turning into a freedom fighter and launching Indiaâs independence struggle. Cut to 2020 and his namesake is putting it all to shame by failing to even seem like a decent human being.

Recently, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey called for the suspension of a police officer on duty, simply because the officer failed to recognise him and made the 'mistake' of stopping him from accessing a VIP-only area.

The incident took place at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a hospital in Biharâs Siwan district, where the minister has been recorded on video asking why officers who donât even recognise ministers have been put on duty. He then went on and added that the officer should be suspended for daring to stop a minister.

The on-duty officer has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ganesh Chauhan, who was put on security duties at the ceremony and had to overlook access to a VIP-only area that led to the stage.

Having failed to recognise the minister, ASI Chauhan tried to stop him and had to bear the brunt of his mistaken entitlement and âcelebrityâ tantrums. Talk about being drunk on power that is probably handed to him by the likes of ASI Chauhan whom Pandey ji so shamelessly rebuked in public.

It also needs reminding that this is the same dimwit who had the audacity to ask for India-Pakistan World Cup match score during a meeting being held for growing encephalitis death in Bihar in 2019.

Sure enough, people are rightly miffed and want to see this minister suspended now, instead.
