Soon after sharing a lighthearted (though pretty weird) video of himself and his horse companion during the lockdown, actor Salman Khan has decided to champion a new cause.

Making good on a promise announced earlier this April, Khan has begun the process of reaching out to a body of over 25,000 film technicians, directly helping foot their living expenses with a periodical stipend of Rs 3,000.

Mumbai-based assistant director Manoj Sharma took to Twitter this Monday to share a notification from his bank, highlighting how despite never having directly worked on a film with the actor, he has received financial support. The move showed how Khanâs bonds with the industry arenât merely professional - the actor seems to have taken note of recent work droughts as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown.

With several filming schedules postponed, thousands of film industry professionals - from key assistants to spot boys - have suffered from a dry spell in their income, especially owing to the by-day rates most production companies work by.

Several fans rose up to cheer Salman on, appreciating a move thatâs helped keep several families afloat during these tough times.

In a bid to keep spirits up during the lockdown, Salman also shared a recent video of his latest stab at music titled Pyaar Karona, although itâs perhaps a bit more geared towards the funnybone rather than our ears.
