Phone charging speeds are getting faster with each year and soon, it will become a thing of the past where we have to wait for hours.

In fact, OPPO has been making huge strides in fast charging technology and even licenses their tech to other brands like OnePlus and Realme. Last year, the company announced a 65W charger that could charge some of their phones in 30 minutes.

This year, OPPO has improved the charging tech and now claims that their new 125W charger will be able to fully charge a smartphone in 15 minutes.

Vivo has already shown off 120W charging tech for their sub-brand iQOO and can charge the phone’s 4,000 mAh battery in 15 minutes. The company did post a video of the demo, however, we could not see it for ourselves since Weibo is blocked in India at the moment.

So far, we’ve already seen companies like Realme and OnePlus bringing faster charging speeds for their phones and in some cases; even wireless charging.

It is worthy to point out OPPO and the subsequent brands do not use power-delivery charging protocols and instead, use their own proprietary method called SuperVooc.

However, it remains to be seen whether OPPO will be able to roll out 125W chargers in mass in the near future. Currently, OPPO will be officially announcing the 125W charger on 15th July and may just be called  "super flash charge”.

Fast charging on phones does not only depend on the higher wattage as it also depends on the device you are using and how much electricity the phone’s circuitry is designed to take in. There are also different types of fast charging and if you want to know more about how it works, check out our guide here

What do you think about a 125W charger that can fully charge your smartphone in 15 minutes? Would you be interested in getting one for yourself or are you concerned that the fast charger may affect the battery life? Let us know in the comments.
