The thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) might still be in its initial stage, with just six league matches played so far, but there have already been moments of brilliance on the field. The tournament has already witnessed some slambang powerhitting, superlative catches and majestic bowling spells to satiate the thirst of cricket fans.
But, on 24th September, when Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) were asked to bat by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli, neither the Indian captain, nor the fans back home had any idea what KL Rahul had in store for them.
What an innings this by the @lionsdenkxip Skipper.

In what was arguably one of the best public displays of cleanest striking of the ball, a swashbuckling Rahul romped his way to a blistering 132 runs, this season's first hundred, in a mere 69 deliveries. The right-handed batsman hammered the RCB bowling unit all around the park, smashing as many as 14 fours and seven sixes during his blazing knock.Β
While his sensational knock, played with an unbelievable strike-rate of over 191, powered his side to a mammoth total of 206 runs and eventually played a decisive role in Punjab's emphatic 97-run triumph, it also allowed Rahul to etch his name in the history books as the fastest Indian batsmen to accumulate 2000 runs in IPL history.Β
