Unlike Microsoft's Smart Delivery feature that allows developers and publishers to sell a single copy of a game and have it playable across both generations of consoles, Sony didn't announce anything for its platform. That, however, isn't stopping the developers from allowing their PS4 games to be upgraded for free to be played on the PS5.

But the biggest news is that Sony has not yet shared a full list of games that can be upgraded to their next-gen versions for free. It's indeed a bummer because it keeps the potential customers in the dark about the games that may or may not be compatible.

It's worth pointing out that if you're buying a PS5 Digital Edition, then you won't be able to upgrade physical copies of games since it doesn't have a disc drive. We suggest you pick up the digital copies of the games now if you're planning for a digital upgrade.
