If the new owner of Honor is based outside of China, then it could regain access to major hardware and software suppliers which were lost earlier due to the trade sanctions. Huawei has dismissed these claims and says it is committed to supporting Honor.

Kuo believes that the sale of the Honor business will be a positive move for Honor, more so than it is for Huawei. Once Honor is off Huawei's shackles, it'll be able to make a name for itself in the market and will be able to develop high-end phones.
