Apple's iPhone 12 Has A Smaller Battery Than The iPhone 11 But Here's Why It's Not A Big Deal

Apple's new iPhone 12 is now official and you'll soon be able to buy one for yourself.Β

But there are a few things that you probably still don't know about the iPhone 12. Apple is notorious like that for keeping some of the crucial information from the consumers.

In fact, it wasn't until this morning we learned that the iPhone 12 has a smaller battery than the iPhone 11Β . That's right, the new iPhone 12 has a smaller battery than the one found inside its predecessor iPhone 11 that was released last year.

It has now been confirmed by a few sources that the iPhone 12 sports a 2,815 mAh battery inside.Β

In case you're wondering, the iPhone 11 sports a 3,110 mAh battery. So, we're essentially looking at a smaller sized battery inside the new iPhone.

The iPhone 12 mini is said to have a 2,227 mAh battery inside. It's bigger than iPhone SE's battery but much smaller than the one found inside both the iPhone 12 as well as the iPhone 11.

Is This Really An Downgrade?

Well, the fact that the new iPhones, which are expected to be better than the older generation iPhones, have a smaller battery, is indeed a bummer. That being said, it's probably not a big deal because the iPhones also have a new A14 Bionic chipset that's built on a 5nm process.

The new processor is expected to be quite power efficient and it's probably why Apple is claiming "great" battery life on the new iPhones even with a smaller battery.

So, is it really a downgrade? On paper, yes. But in real life usage, the new iPhones will probably last just as long as the iPhone 11 did, if not more.Β

We'll obviously have more to talk about the new iPhones once we've used them, so stay tuned.
