Despite Changing The Title, Here's Why People Want Akshay Kumar’s ‘Laxmii’ To Be Banned

Akshay Kumar's movie Laxmii, which was earlier called Laxmmi Bomb, has been in troubled waters for a while now. Several political groups and organizations have stated that the film’s title is an insult to Hindu religion. As per the notice by Karni Sena, the movie is being considered “derogatory” and “offensive” to Goddess Laxmi by the Hindu community. It further claimed that the makers had “deliberately” used the title Laxmmi Bomb with the sole purpose of lowering the “dignity” of and to show “disrespect” towards the goddess.

Taking that into the consideration, the makers decided to change the name, thinking this will address the situation as people were very annoyed with it. Recently, however, after the song Bambholle was released, many people objected to it alleging that it disrespected Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Well, it seems like the troubles are not going to end anytime soon as today #Ban_Laxmmi_Movie has been trending on Twitter. According to people, just changing the title only solves half of the issue and they are now blaming the movie for promoting Love Jihad.

People are still angry about the makers trying to mock the Hindu deities and this is further fueling the hatred of people.

Hindus are tolerant so time again Bollywood film makers, directors and actors dare to mock Hindu Deities..This should stop at once. Hindus should unitededly oppose such movies and show their strength. pic.twitter.com/kh731Ie3PR

The film is a remake of the Tamil film, Muni 2: Kanchana. It is helmed by Raghava Lawrence. The film is the story of a man who gets possessed by a transgender ghost. It is a horror-comedy and is produced by Shabinaa Khan and Tusshar Kapoor. It will release on November 9 on DisneyPlus Hotstar.
