The US elections have got the entire world hooked on to TV screens and social media as the country prepares to seal its destiny with the next President.

As votes are being counted and individual results for each state are being declared, one super interesting fact about these elections is the number of Indian-origin candidates which are winning state assembly seats.

One such brilliant man is filmmaker Mira Nair’s 29-year-old son Zohran Mamdani.

Zohran has managed to become the first South Asian to win a seat in the state assembly in New York and has a stellar personal profile that has left us quite impressed.

Zohran is an Indian-Ugandan-American politician, a housing counsellor, and he also raps as a hip-hop artist.

He was born in Uganda but moved to New York when he was about 7-years-old. Before running for office, he was working as a foreclosure conselor and as an artist.

His notable works include a track called Nani which got pretty famous last year.
