Saif Ali Khan enraged a lot of people when he talked about his upcoming film Adipurush in which he will be essaying the character of Raavan.

He said in an interview with Mumbai Mirror, “It’s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off her nose."

This statement irked a lot of people and later he went on to apologize for the same. However, now a case has been filed against him by an advocate in Jaunpur, UP for his statements.

In the film Saif will play the antagonist Lankesh which is based on Raavan and the South Indian heartthrob Prabhas will be seen in a role inspired by Lord Ram in the Om Raut directorial.

The petition focuses on how in Saif Ali Khan’s December 6 interview he said that Raavan was justified in kidnapping Sita because Ram’s younger brother Laksman had cut his sister Surpanakha’s nose.

According to IANS, the plaintiff has alleged that Saif’s interview was a negative portrayal of faith. Also, apart from the plaintiff, six other people saw the interview online and their religious sentiments were hurt.
