Woman Surprised Husband With Mom’s Food That She Cooked 10 Yrs Ago & It Has Made Everyone Nostalgic


Everybody loves ‘maa ke hath ka khana’ and there are some family recipes that are passed on for generations. Like there is always one dish that your grandmother makes and is passed onto your mother and is their specialty. While some people can retain the recipes, some are lost over time and all you can do is miss those days.

Recently, a man got a big surprise when he was served food cooked by his mother 10 years ago before she died. His wife ended up preserving the last of her husband’s favorite 'gochujang' and surprised him at dinner one night.

Eric Kim, who is a food writer, took to Twitter saying, "This is a batch of gochujang my grandmother made before she passed away 10 yrs ago. My mom calls it a time capsule. She's kept it in the basement freezer all these years and wanted to surprise my dad with it one day. So one day, a few weeks ago, my mom brought it out for dinner."

In another post, Eric shared his father’s reaction and wrote, "Most of all, he noted what a strange sensation it is to taste something he thought he would never have again. Grandma's gochujang is less sweet than store-bought & tastes good rubbed into barley rice. Or as a dipping sauce for roast chicken. I just can't believe it's 10 yrs old.”

He also expressed how his dad didn’t cry but everyone at the dinner table kept talking about his grandmom.

my mom always tried to get me too cook with her, but i regret not writing down the recipes

she passed away a few years ago and i visit every korean restaurant i can to try to find the taste of my mom's cooking

can't seem to get it down at home because i'm missing something key
