Ajinkya Rahane was in the middle of incredible form and looked unshaken at the crease early on Day 3 of the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground until he was caught on no-man’s land and was dismissed on a run-out.
View this post on InstagramHaving crossed the 100-run mark on Day 2, Rahane’s 112-run innings came to an end in the 100th over when his partner Ravindra Jadeja encouraged him to get a quick single with the hopes of making his half-century in a hurry.
Despite getting the bails off in time, the Australians didn’t look too confident going for an appeal but the review by the third umpire cleared all doubts. The Indian skipper was indeed out and had to return to the pavilion.
View this post on InstagramGiven the milestone on which he was, one would imagine that the batsman would have been enraged, especially when it wasn’t his fault in the end, however, what Rahane did next, earned him even more respect in the eyes of the fans of the team.
Without wasting a moment, Rahane made peace with what had happened and walked up to Jadeja, tapped him on the shoulder and told him to have a solid innings ahead.
His gesture instantly caught the attention of the fans who lauded him for his amazing sportsmanship.
What an amazing reaction by Rahane after the runout decision.
Didn't let the decision affect jadeja.
True leader.
