The former Pakistani speedster continues to capture the imagination on the back of his honest opinions and analysis of the game on social media. And, more recently, he won over Indian cricket fans with his special tribute to cricket icons MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma during a Q&A on Twitter.

Asked by a fan to describe Rohit Sharma in one word, Akhtar replied that as soon as a word is invented to do justice to the Indian opener's capabilities, he'll share it. "Jasay hi word market main aata hai toh batata hoon," Akhtar responded.

Its the name of an era

When asked about what he has to say about MS Dhoni, Akhtar won over the internet by replying: "It's the name of an era".

Ronaldo

Apart from questions on Dhoni and Rohit, Akhtar also settled the decade-long debate on Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. The 45-year-old wasted no time before picking the Portuguese over the Argentine.
