US Man Left With 2 Guesses To Access His Rs 1,715 Crore Worth Of Bitcoin & We’re Scared For Him

One of the most important things to make sure of while dealing with cryptocurrency is securing your wallet.

A computer programmer in the US now finds himself locked out of a digital wallet containing an estimated $220 million (Rs 1,175 Cr) worth of Bitcoin.

The fact that he's locked out of his wallet is the most painful part.

It's also worth pointing out that he's left with only two chances left to figure out his password before its contents are encrypted.

If he fails to get it right then he'll never be able to reach his wallet and all those Bitcoins are gone.

German-born Stefan Thomas, who now lives in San Francisco, told New York Times that he was gifted 7,002 Bitcoins by an early cryptocurrency fanatic.

This was back in 2011 apparently when Bitcoins weren't as huge as they are right now. Can we have more people like that Crypto fanatic in our lives, please?

Unfortunately, Thomas lost the password to his digital wallet the same year and he's been locked out of it ever since. Of course, it's more painful now because of how much the Bitcoins have increased in value.

"I would just lay in bed and think about it," Thomas told NYT. "Then I would go to the computer with some new strategy, and it wouldn't work, and I would be desperate again."

Lucky for him, it wasn't the only wallet he kept his Bitcoins in. He says he kept hold of Bitcoin in other wallets too that has made him rich.

But the fact that he lost his password and is now locked out of a huge chunk of Cryptocurrency is just sad.
