Whether you fully agree or not, getting “offended” at every step of the way has become the new normal in today’s time. A voice, a strong voice can be cut off once, twice, thrice or as many times as you want, but it can’t be shut down forever.

But, wait. Is he leaving comedy? Munawar Faruqui was released on interim bail earlier this month after spending over a month in jail for having hurt sentiments for an alleged 'joke.'
The heartfelt video sees him try to explain why he does comedy in the first place and why he would leave, given everything he has been put through, thanks to the hatred and sensationalism on the internet without knowing the whole truth.
Watch the video here:
Here’s how it all beganEklavya Singh Gaur, the son of a BJP MLA Malini Laxman Gaur, filed a police complaint against five of the stand-up comics including Munawar Faruqui, Edwin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, Priyam Vyas, and Nalin Yadav, for passing derogatory comments about Hindu Gods and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the show. All of them got arrested later and also, the local court rejected their bail pleas and sent them directly to judicial custody.
Later, several comics including Varun Grover, Vir Das, Kaneez Surka, Agrima Joshua, and Rohan Joshi took to social media to voice their strong opinions against this injustice.
We are living in 2021 and it is high time we learn to accept that people can have different opinions and try not get offended by everything we don’t approve of.
