Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar has been in the news ever since Mumbai Indians picked him in IPL auction 2021 in Chennai on Thursday. He was picked at the base price of Rs 20 Lakhs. Well, Arjun is quite excited to be a part of the team as he has been following the team for a long while now.
"Since childhood, I have always been a die-hard fan of Mumbai Indians. I would like to thank coaches, owners, and support staff for showing faith in me. I am excited to join the MI paltan," Arjun said in a video posted by Mumbai Indians on their Twitter handle.

It was quite expected that there will be chatter on social media after his selection. People have started to bash the board and are talking about how Nepotism plays a huge role in the selection of Arjun Tendulkar.
Why so is happening...!!? Raja ka beta hi raja banega? Living in the 80s & 70s ... Select the people on the basis of knowledge , skills & talent!! And this is one of the reasons why India is still not developed!
Just stop the #Nepotism ! #Nepotism !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://t.co/tAxv9eGFv7

Not just Arjun Tendulkar, Shah Rukh Khan's son was also trolled online as people went on to say that he had no idea about IPL but was only present at the auction because of his star status. People have started to point at the fact that if Arjun is igniting the topic of Nepotism, Aryan Khan also falls in a similar category. Yesterday, a picture of Aryan drinking coffee started doing the rounds and cricket fans got irked when people started to draw uncanny similarities between him and his father SRK.

Back in 2016, there was a huge furor over the selection of Arjun Tendulkar in the Under-16 West Zone squad and people were angry how Pranav wasn’t considered for the same.
Pranav’s father Prashant had cleared the air around the selection and his son wasn’t ignored because of Arjun Tendulkar. "The selection for Mumbai's U-16 team happened before Pranav's record. They had also played a few matches. So since Pranav didn't feature for the Mumbai U-16 team, he cannot be a part of the West zone side, that's the procedure," Prashant earlier told Firstpost. Arjun and Pranav are good friends, they speak regularly with each other," he added.
It’s after four years that Arjun was picked by IPL and Pranav is nowhere to be seen.
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed the reason behind Arjun’s purchase was purely on the basis of his skill sets.
