5 Ways To Cheer Up Your Partner Who Is Having A Hard Time Working From Home

Most of us are about to complete an entire year of Working From Home, this March.

These months have, without a doubt, been trying. The time has tested us and our relationships in ways we could not fathom and yet, here we are, thanking our stars for sailing through as we continue striving to adapt to this new ‘normal’.

If your partner has been feeling demotivated or just been slumping around while Working From Home, here are 5 ways that can help you cheer them up:

1. The Way To Anyone’s Heart Is Through Food

I am going to debunk the clichéd belief that only a man can be made happy with good food.

Living beings live to eat, and when someone orders you a hot pizza on a bad day or you get your girl a tub of her favourite ice cream when she’s feeling blue, we all are doing each other a huge favour by showing we care with the language of food.

So, if your partner is feeling uninspired about work or just being cranky while on a Zoom call, just be a good buddy and either prep up a cool meal with a bottle of wine, or if you too are stuck with work, then just grab some chilled beer and order some good Chinese.

2. Steam Things Up A Bit For Them

Steaming things up is a good umbrella term for a lot of things someone can do for an overworked partner.

If you both live together, then maybe steam up the bedroom with some good moves after work?

If you both are not living together, then maybe plan a sleepover date with them.

Practice some new moves, let the hormones flow, let the adrenaline give both of you the much-needed push, then sleep well, only to wake up fresh for a new day staring at emails and dealing with phone calls.

3. Swap Location Of Work

We have been Working From Home for almost a year now. In case your beau is way too overworked, or just not in a position to get a few days off work, then may we suggest a change of scenery for them?

Either they can come over to your place to work, or maybe you can sign them up for one of those co-working spaces around the city where they get a change of location, sip coffee from a machine and gather some inspiration from other professionals around them who are doing the same.

Even heading to an entirely different location, like the mountains or a cute B&B is also an option.

4. Make Post Work Plans

Sure, you can offer help while they are at work, but sometimes, going out for a run together, or going out on a date, maybe visiting your parents, goes a long way in refreshing someone’s mind.

Although, please consider all COVID -19 guidelines in your city and practise all safety measures required.

5. Offer Your Patience In Abundance

Most of the times, we can order dozens of doughnuts, send flowers, show up with a bottle of their favourite whiskey and do everything we feel we should, yet, their spirits don’t go up.

Sometimes, the problem is not the lack of effort, it is putting too much pressure on someone and even yourself.

Somedays, they just want to know that you are there. They probably want to sit in their PJs, not be judged for skipping their turn of doing the dishes or the laundry.

Giving someone space to breathe and just be when they are already not focused, is a big help in itself.
