The skin-trend that emerged to be the winner in the latter half of 2020 and shall continue its reign in 2021, is definitely 'Skinimalism'.
It might seem bizarre at first but with no exact source to point at, broadly speaking, this trend came into the mainstream when social media users on Pinterest couldn't stop posting about it.
And you've probably guessed it by now, 'Skinimalism' can be loosely defined as embracing your natural skin with, sometimes, a touch of super-minimal makeup.
It's almost like an evolved version of the 'No-Makeup-Makeup-Look'.

So, what makes this trend so desirable?
In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic halted all our plans for the year as most of us were stuck at home amid the pandemic.
In the latter half of the year, when things started opening up, and people were finally stepping out, it didn't make sense to use makeup under a mask.

Amid these new-found struggles that we were all dealing with, this trend is like a blend of minimal makeup (think a touch of concealer, an emollient lip balm, and maybe a bit of colour correction) and consistent skincare together.
Wearing a mask, anyway, means that our skin requires more TLC than ever before to fight the pesky 'maskne' and other skin troubles.
A mix of skincare and minimal makeup subverts unrealistic beauty standards and attempts to be more skin-positive and who doesn't want more of that?

Although this trend is relatively new, most Bollywood actors have always been following it.
We're especially talking about actors like Aditya Roy Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Ayushmann Khurana, and John Abraham. We know that these actors always use a hint of makeup before they step out.
In an interview with MensXP, Aditya Roy Kapoor even went ahead and said that he has been applying "basic make-up for 15 odd years now."

In fact, his skincare routine simply involves regular hydration and taking care of his skin. That is true for most other actors.
While some actors take it up a notch in films, like Ranveer Singh's look from Padmaavat to Ayushmann's look from Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

However, what's common is how these men have never shied away from a combination of subtle makeup and skincare that enhances their facial structure and features.
These are all things that Skinimalism stands for too.
