Artist Remixes Imran Khan’s Speech Into Viral Song & People Call Him Pakistani Yashraj Mukhate

Pakistani Artist Saad Alavi went viral on Tuesday after his remix of the Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s words “Aap ne ghabrana nahi” was noticed by people on Twitter and YouTube.

The 58-second video was originally posted on YouTube and now has over 75K views. It starts with a clip from PM Imran Khan’s speech last year, addressing the coronavirus outbreak in Pakistan. “Sabse pehle… aap ne ghabrana nahi [the first thing… you must not panic]”, he says, and then the beat comes in with the artist mixing his commentary on issues Pakistanis are facing with the PM’s placatory words.

Listen to the song here:

“Sabun mehenga ho jaaye to aap ne lagana nahi [if soap gets pricier then you must not use it],” “Ata mehenga ho jaaye to aapne khana nahi [if flour gets pricier then you must not eat it],” some of the lyrics say. “Qom ko lori dene do, qom ko jagana nahi [let me sing the community/nation to sleep, you must not wake them up].”

The song quickly went viral when journalist Naila Inayat posted the clip on her Twitter, with over 204K views in less than a day.

The video was received positively across borders, with many Indians commenting over the relatability of the song and others asking for longer versions.

“Excellent political satire. Please make a complete version of this song,” a user commented, while another said that “the worst part is that it ends too soon.”

“Being an Indian, I enjoyed the song a lot,” read an Indian comment. “But, for a moment if I were to forget myself being an Indian, I still enjoyed it, as it spoke for the poor who have been devastated by Covid-19 across the world. Governments like India and Pakistan rather than helping the poor have found this to be an opportunity [to] further harass and delegitimize the poor by asking them to be more patriotic and accept more restrictions.”

Many compared him with Indian artist Yashraj Mukhate, who has tracks like ‘Pawri Ho Rahi Hai’ that have a similar style of using dialogues in the song, calling him “Pakistani Yashraj Mukhate”.

The artist took to YouTube earlier this morning to thank his viewers for making the song viral, saying that he put his feelings into the song and that “aap jese doston ka saath raha to mein is video clip ko 1 million views tak dekh paoonga [with the continued support of friends like you, I might be able to see this video clip to 1 million views].”
