Delhi Government's Decision to Convert Ashoka Hotel into Covid Centre for HC Judges Leaves Citizens Angry

India's current Covid-19 scenario is not very dissimilar to any movie surrounding events of an apocalypse.

Talk to your friends, relatives, or people anywhere across the country, and most would tell you that they might actually be having trouble sleeping at night. Such has been the travesty of the enormous second wave of Coronavirus infections.

The order, under which the facility will be linked to Primus Hospital in Chanakyapuri, was passed by the Chanakyapuri Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Geeta Grover, on Sunday (April 26).

“A request has been received from Delhi High Court for setting up of CHC facility for the Hon’ble Justices and other judicial officers of Delhi High Court and their families."

"Now, therefore, I, Geeta Grover… in exercise of powers…and in overall imminent public interest, do hereby require the 100 rooms of Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi for setting up of Covid Health facility for the use of Hon’ble Justices and other judicial officers of Delhi High Court and their families and place at the disposal of Primus Hospital, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi with immediate effect…” the order said, as per a report in The Indian Express.

Grover, while speaking to The Indian Express, later confirmed the same, and said that the facility will become operational at the end of the week.

“It will take at least till the end of the week for the facility to become operational. It will be only for judges, HC staff, and their families, as is mentioned in the order,” said Grover.

New Delhi has been one of the worst-hit cities in the country, with the national capital recording around 20,201 cases on Monday, marking a positivity rate of 35 percent along with around 380 deaths.
