PUBG Mobile India will officially be called Battlegrounds Mobile India when it relaunches and it seems like we can start counting down the days. The battle royale game is expected to launch sometime soon once it gains permission from the Indian Government as Krafton has not released any new information about its relaunch.
However, the game company has started to update the logo on its official YouTube Channel where it takes cues from the Indian national flag. The company also updated its official Facebook and YouTube pages with the new name and removed all mention of PUBG Mobile from its social media handles and feed.

Krafton has officially announced the rebranding of the game via a press release and said, “BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA, a battle royale experience, will have a period of pre-registration before the launch. The game will be available to play only in India. KRAFTON will collaborate with partners to build an esports ecosystem while bringing in-game content regularly, starting with a series of India specific in-game events at launch, to be announced later.”

It is currently unknown whether the game has been granted permission by the Indian Government, however the company said, “With privacy and data security being a top priority, KRAFTON will be working with partners, to ensure data protection and security, at each stage. This will ensure privacy rights are respected, and all data collection and storage will be in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in India and for players here” in a statement to IGN India.
Krafton has now also updated its social network pages and YouTube channel with the rebranding and a teaser video. Though the teaser video does not say when the game is expected to launch and only puts an emphasis on the new logo.
PUBG Mobile was banned in India last year due to its partnership with Chinese games developer Tencent. The game was banned by the Indian Government on the grounds of national security and privacy. Krafton has now partnered with Microsoft to run its in-game servers and has recently made a donation of Rs 1.5 crore to the PM Cares fund to help battle the second wave of COVID-19 in India.

Krafton also said the company will “collaborate with partners to build an esports ecosystem while bringing in-game content regularly, starting with a series of India specific in-game events at launch, to be announced later.”
