We never thought we would be spending another summer being cooped up in our homes, especially after the COVID cases were finally declining in the beginning of the year. But, here we are! Lockdown has been imposed in most states and looks like we would be homebound this summer as well.
It is pretty normal to take your hair health for granted during this time but let us warn you, that is the biggest mistake you could make right now. Summer is already here and the heat and humidity will just add to your hair woes.

While you make sure you maintain personal hygiene by washing your hands regularly and carrying sanitisers whenever you step out, you should spare some time to practice hair hygiene as well. Even if you are not going anywhere for the foreseeable future, here’s how you can keep your hair looking and smelling fresh all day at home.

Wash your hair regularly
Do not delay washing your hair just because, “no one’s looking.” Greasy hair can lead to dandruff, itching and even malassezia (yeast fungus) and make your mane look dirty and oily. Wash at least thrice a week.

Trim your hair
With salons shut, growing out hair and beard has become a quarantine trend. Lockdown scruff was actually a thing but it can hamper your hair health and cause split ends. Even if you keep long locks, it’s recommended to get a trim every 12 weeks for healthy hair.

Brush it through
Hair can accumulate dirt and tangles which need to be brushed gently everyday to keep it clean and fresh. Comb your hair to get rid of tangles and make it look neat and polished all the time.

Exfoliate your scalp
Scalp hygiene is one of the most important steps of hair care that you might be ignoring. Your scalp naturally produces sebum and sometimes, shampooing isn’t enough to do away with the excess oil. Once a week, exfoliate with a hair scrub or homemade scrub.

Don’t fiddle with your hair
Touching your hair with unclean hands is normal and natural. While solving a puzzle, texting your crush or working on a project, your fingers automatically wander in your tresses. However, it can unnecessarily add to the greasy locks and lead to hair problems. Keep your hands off your hair at all times.

Hair hygiene is just as important as personal hygiene this lockdown and these tips would help keep your mane looking fresh all day.
