In what will certainly pinch people when they think about travelling outside, the state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) on Monday (June 07) increased the prices of both petrol and diesel by 27-28 paise per litre.

This means that in the national capital New Delhi itself, the prices of petrol and diesel have now risen to Rs 95.31 and Rs 86.22 per litre. (Bhayi, ab petrol hi nahi loge, toh jaoge kaise ghoomne?)

With prices of both fuels witnessing a hike a staggering 16 times during last month alone, there certainly seems to be no respite for citizens, who've already gone through so much emotionally and physically this year due to the traumatic Covid-19 situation in the country.
Soon after the news broke of the price hike, angry citizens took to microblogging site Twitter to start trending the #PetrolOnLoan hashtag against the government.

With about 16 fuel hikes in the past month and four significant hikes in June already, the price of petrol and diesel has reached new highs across the country. Can the government be any more inconsiderate in these times of crisis?#PetrolDieselPriceHike #PetrolOnLoan pic.twitter.com/DSxi0I0Zq1
