Raj Kundra being a successful businessman is common knowledge. However, little did we know, that he has been surrounded by several controversies a lot of times. 

He was recently arrested in an alleged pornographic film case and has been named the 'key conspirator' in the issue. But, this is not the only time he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. 

Here's a look at six of Raj Kundra's biggest controversies that raised quite a storm:

1. He Was Accused Of Betting In IPL

Being the Rajasthan Royals team owner, Raj was accused of betting in 2013, and because of his involvement, he was banned from the league forever. 

However, in 2018, Raj filed a case for the same, and the suspension ended. As a result, the team got its place back in the tournament, but Raj and Shilpa weren't a part of the association anymore.

2. Poonam Pandey Controversy

Actress and model Poonam Pandey had also come forward in 2019 to file a case against Kundra. She claimed that his company, Armsprime Media, was handling her case. 

She stated that her mobile number and images were leaked, and she had started receiving derogatory calls. 

However, Raj mentioned that he was no longer a part of the company when the petition was filed.

3. The Bitcoin Scam

Another controversy stirred in 2018 when the Enforcement Directorate summoned Raj and questioned him for an alleged Rs 2000 Crore Bitcoin scam. 

This came into the picture due to his suspected links with businessman Amit Bharadwaj and Vivek Bharadwaj, the directors of GainBitcoin who had cheated several people. 

4. Problems With Ex-Wife

While Raj's current marriage with Shilpa Shetty appears rock solid, the businessman faced controversies due to his previous marriage. 

His ex-wife Kavita accused him of being a home-wrecker. However, in an interview, Raj said that she had an affair with his brother-in-law and mentioned that she had received money to accuse Shilpa. 

He also added that he wasn't even allowed to see his daughter.

5. His Problematic Tweets

One has to be cautious of what they say on social media as it can instantly turn into a considerable controversy. 

Post his arrest in the recent pornography case, some of his past tweets started resurfacing on the internet again. In one of them, he talked about pornography and prostitution. 

6. Money Laundering Case

Back in 2019, Kundra was brought in for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate for the alleged case of money laundering with a real estate agent Ranjeet Bindra, who was arrested for being linked with a drug lord, Iqbal Mirchi.

During the questioning, he said in the statement, "I have provided whatever information ED required. My only deal with Ranjeet Bindra was acquiring a 50% stake in Bastian Hospitality. What his links are and what past transactions he has done were never known to me. As a management decision, we have initiated the process to remove him as director of the company whilst the issue is in court."
