Vidya Balan has often found herself at the receiving end of people trolling her for her body. She is someone who has touched upon topics like beauty standards, body positivity and has shared some experiences that were not so pleasant. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kanan, she revealed how a female actor criticized her for her fashion sense and she wanted to give her back. 

Vidya said, “One actress I remember told me something about my dressing sense. I wanted to turn around and tell her, ‘First, why don’t you focus on your acting?’”

On being asked if Vidya said anything to her in response, she said no. “Jab unhone mujhse yeh kaha (When she said this to me), I was so stunned that she had the gall to say something like that to me, because it’s none of her business, that I came out feeling like ‘what just happened',” she said.

“And then I thought to myself, ‘Kapdo ke baare mein baat karna bohot aasaan hai, actor agar ho toh thodi si acting bhi kar lo (It is easy to talk about clothes, but if you are an actor, then at least act a little),’” she added.

It’s high that people start recognizing talents than pinpointing them for their bodies or clothes that they choose to wear.

Vidya has given powerful performances and many cannot even touch her position as an actor because she is a master of the art. 

Vidya Balan, who stepped into Bollywood with the critically acclaimed film Parineeta, is best-known for featuring in movies such as The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Guru, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai, among others. She was last seen in Amit Masurkar’s Sherni, in which she played the lead role of a field forest officer named Vidya Vincent.

Vidya’s short film Natkhat is among the Indian films that are in the race for Oscars 2021 in the Best Short Film (Live Action) category. She hasn’t only played the lead character in the movie but is also of the producers of the movie.
