Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan was heavily criticised for sharing a video on Instagram of her daughter Aairah dancing to a song while tossing a shirt with her hands. 

It is merely a couple of seconds of video but was enough for the critics to jump in the comments section and start bashing her for “making a kid do all these things”.

Hasin Jahan, who is an actor, dancer, and a model, according to her Instagram bio, has over 135 thousand followers on her profile which is famous for the pictures she shared from various photoshoots that she has had in the past.

A couple of years ago, every fan of the Indian cricket team began to read headlines about Hasin Jahan accusing Shami of infidelity, having a romantic relationship with another woman, domestic violence, attempt of murder and cruelty to her.

The chargesheet had been filed under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code - relating to a woman being subjected to cruelty by her husband or his family - by the detective branch of Kolkata Police this March. 

"The police chargesheet says there was no attempt to murder, no poisoning - all serious charges filed by Hasin Jahan," Rahman said. "Also the allegations against (Jahan's) mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law of conspiring against her were discharged [dismissed] by the police," Shami’s lawyer had said back in 2019.

No allegations were proven in court and as a result Shami was reinstated in the Indian cricket team with his contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) given back to him without any changes made.

Ever since, Shami and his wife have been living separate lives but haven’t gotten a divorce. 

In terms of Mohammed Shami and his cricketing career, the pacer had himself a brilliant second Test against England at London’s Lord’s cricket ground earlier this month. However as the series moved to Leeds, his fortunes haven’t looked the same. 

One of the most efficient bowlers for Virat Kohli’s side in the second Test, Shami has been smashed for 39 runs in 11 overs with an economy of 3.55 in the first innings of the third Test, making him the second most expensive bowler on the team behind Ishant Sharma.
