For me, and most people my age, it becomes difficult to even hide a packet of chips you gorged on last night from your parents let alone hiding something big and consequential.
A relationship, for example.
Considering how I can’t even make or maintain a poker face for longer than 3 seconds, it is a nightmare to imagine hiding texts and calls from your beau during the day, especially with the lockdown now.
But looks like 'love' always finds a way and for this man in Kerala, that meant finding a way to hide his girlfriend in his room, away from his parents, for 11 long years. Yep, you read that right.

Apparently, a man named Rahman from Kerala along with his lover Sajitha hit the headlines after the couple revealed how the woman had been hiding at the man’s house for 11 years until recently when the couple finally decided to marry each other. Again.
Rahman, who had been missing from his house since 10th March was spotted by his brother Basheer on Jun 7, 2021. He informed the police and when the police nabbed Rahman, he took them to his rented house in a nearby locality.
There, the police found a woman who claimed she was Rahman’s wife. After questioning her, it was revealed that she was in fact the same woman who had gone missing 11 years ago from the same area.

While both Rahman’s folks and the authorities were stumped at how she managed to live barely 100 meters from his family without once coming in sight, the couple shared how it was both of their idea to go through with this.
Sajitha had told Rahman almost 10 years ago that she did not want to live with her family anymore and so Rahman thought of a way of helping her out.
Sajitha lied to her family about going to a relative one fine day and never returned. Many from the village assumed she eloped with someone else.
Even though Rahman was on the list of suspects, nothing could be found against him. In the meantime, Sajitha made herself comfortable in the one room she was given, which could be locked from the inside. She would use a plastic bag for attending nature’s call during the day, dry her wash clothes in the room itself and would entertain herself with a small TV and earphones.

Although the Kerala State Women’s Commission filed a case against the man for keeping her in captivity, it was revealed that he in fact took care of her and hid her with her own consent. The two got married under the Special Marriage Act at a local sub-registrar office, but none of Rahman’s family members attended the ceremony.
Meanwhile, people on Twitter are still wrapping their heads around this bizarre news. Here are some of the reactions:

— Mojo Boy (@mojoboy2021) September 17, 2021it is being made into a cute love story..how sweet...
— Kotresh Kumar (@KotreshKumar7) June 14, 2021Before the news agencies romanticize the story a deeper investigation is needed.. There is much more here than what meets the eye..
— Proud_Indian (@ram_kannur) June 13, 2021This is a crime. No doubt. The woman obviously went along with the idea of hiding in a room for 11 years because of a combination of love towards the man and a fear of the society.
Its surprising that the man and his family did not find any impropriety in the whole arrangement.
Kerala man who hid his lover in his room for 10 years, marries her finally.
Kuch bhi bolo, bhaiyya, lekin pyaar ho toh aisa!
While there is a lot of mystery surrounding this case, one can't help but wonder as to how is it humanly possible for a person to stay in a room for 11 years...
