Siddharth Gives It Back To People Who Thought His ‘Cheaters’ Tweet Was A Potshot At Samantha

Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya’s separation became official when they shared a joint statement on social media. The statement read, “To all our well-wishers. After much deliberation and thought Chay and I have decided to part ways as husband and wife to pursue our own paths . We are fortunate to have a friendship of over a decade that was the very core of our relationship which we believe will always hold a special bond between us. We request our fans , well wishers and the media to support us during this difficult time and give us the privacy we need to move on. Thanking you for your support.”

Amid all the chaos, it was actor Siddharth’s tweet that started to trend as people started relating it to Samantha’s divorce. Siddharth and Samantha were rumoured to be dating each other and hence, his ‘cheaters never prosper’ tweet didn't go down too well with the social media users.

He had tweeted, “One of the first lessons I learnt from a teacher in school. ‘Cheaters never prosper.’ What’s yours?” Siddharth faced major backlash for this as people told him that it’s not his place to comment on their divorce.

He has finally clarified that the tweet had nothing to do with Samantha. In a video shared online by NTV Telugu, Siddharth was asked about his ‘cheaters never prosper’ tweet coming ‘out of nowhere’. He said in Telugu, “Why will it come out of nowhere, sir? I have been tweeting for 12 years now. One day, if I say that stray dogs are barking outside my house and if people come and ask me, ‘Are you calling me a dog?’, what can I do? I am talking about actual dogs.”

Siddharth added that he tweets regularly but he has never been asked about any of his other posts. On being asked if his tweet was a potshot at Samantha and Naga’s separation, he said, “Please, I only talk about my life. There is no relation to anything else. If you are associating it with something that it has no relation to, that’s your problem.”

Explaining the reason behind his tweet, the actor said he was having a conversation with his Mahasamudram director about cheating being one of the themes of the film. “If every cheater in the world randomly comes and asks me if this tweet is about them, what should I do?” he asked.

It’s not the first time that the actor’s tweets have got him in trouble. He has often faced backlash for his strong opinions on Twitter and people have even addressed him as Swara Bhasker of South Indian film industry.
