Just like Eid is synonymous with Salman Khan, Christmas has been considered lucky for Aamir Khan. In the last few years, most of the actor's films were released during the Christmas weekend and turned out to be huge hits. Nitesh Tiwari's Dangal was released in 2016 and collected around Rs 387.38 crore at the box office. The film was based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat.Β

The sequel to Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai saw Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif reprising their roles from the first installment. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the sequel was released during the Christmas weekend in 2017 and did a business of Rs 339.16 crore. It was declared a blockbuster.Β Β

Based on Chetan Bhagat's novel Five Point Someone, Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots was released in 2009 on Christmas and starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, and R Madhavan in lead roles. Upon release, it turned out to be the highest-grossing film ever at that time and became the first-ever film to enter the 200-crore club.Β

Featuring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles, Dabangg 3 was released in 2019 during the Christmas weekend. Despite getting mixed reviews, the film went on to collect Rs 146 crore (Approx) at the box office. While everyone was expecting it to do better, the film was still among the biggest hits of the year.Β

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Bajirao Mastani, featuring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, was released a week prior to Christmas and clashed with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer Dilwale in 2015. However, the Christmas festival boosted the collections and the movie did a business of Rs 184.2 crore at the box office beating Dilwale with a huge margin. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Dilwale minted Rs 148.72 crore.
