Okay. If I'm being honest here, when I saw the first trailer of 'Shazam', my instant reaction was 'what the f*ck?' I mean, this was a DC movie for crying out loud, so why did it look like anything but a regular DC movie, which is full of dark and brooding angst?
With all the jokes and the damn bright colours…something was off. But hey, I was not complaining. I am all for change, and if DC is on its way to shedding its dark avatar and incorporates a little heart and humour, I am in!
So, when the second trailer of 'Shazam' dropped, sure I was expecting the awesomeness of the last trailer, and I was not disappointed.
I mean. LOOK. AT. THAT. Oh, yes, please!
Also, I was waiting for the slapstick cheesy humour. And it was delivered perfectly making fans chuckle in unison.
But, what I did NOT see coming was the obvious swing it took at one of its own most iconic characters- BATMAN!
A few seconds into the trailer and we get to see the giant red words saying- HE'S NOT SO SERIOUS!
I mean, come on! You've got to agree that turning the Joker's iconic line around into something so silly yet awesome, was brilliant! Kind of sets the whole tone for the movie and gives us a hint of what we should expect from the movie.
Also Billie, who is now in his full-on, bright and ridiculously padded up Shazam costume, sitting with his best friend Freddy and asking a real estate agent for a 'lair' which is ideally located on a “cliff or a castle-esque thing, overlooking some water splashing on rocks and stuff” is the most hysterical thing ever!
Of course, we get to see more of Shazam in pure hero-mode putting his awesome powers to use.

Needless to say, the trailer left me salivating and wanting for more. However, I wasn't so sure if a lot of DC fans were going to like this radical change in concept, but I had nothing to worry about, as fans are clearly loving this trailer:
After seeing Aquaman and watching the new teaser for #Shazam, I'm so excited to see where the DC universe is going in terms of film. Are we gonna have a resurgence in quality? Could we have another Dark Knight on our hands sometime soon? Only time will tell, but I hope so.— Ryan Dunn (@9thWallMedia) January 21, 2019 January 20, 2019 January 20, 2019 January 21, 2019
