Franck Ribery Becomes The Butt Of All Jokes For His Weird 'No 7 Haircut' In Champions League

Earlier this February, Bayern Munich did relatively well after travelling to the Anfield and restricting a rampant Liverpool brigade to a goalless draw in the first-leg of the Round of 16 clash in the UEFA Champions League. Given Liverpool's form and might, the 0-0 draw had initially tilted the Round of 16 battle in Bayern's favour ahead of the second-leg tie.

But, on 14th March, when the Reds travelled to the home of the German giants, the events that unfolded at the Alliaz Arena, broke all myths that people had from the first-leg. Sadio Mane looked at his destructive best, scoring two key goals for the visitors who secured their berth for the quarterfinals on the back of a 3-1 (on aggregate) win.

The only silver lining for Niko Kovac's men turned out to be Joel Matip's own goal in 39th minute. But, even that wasn't enough to thwart the efforts of Liverpool to progress further in Europe's top competition. If Bayern's hapless performance on a wet in Munich failed to impress their fans, winger Franck Ribery's decision to sport a weird hairdo in the match, further made the butt of all jokes on the social media.

For many 35-year-olds, natural hair is an absolute luxury. While some worry about losing it, others are just lucky enough to still have it. And, when you look at Ribery, you know he belongs to the latter category. But, still, for reasons unknown, the Bayern winger made a complete mess of his natural hair.

His decision to shave the sides and carve a number '7' at one end made him a laughing stock as soon as he stepped on the pitch to face Liverpool. For someone his age, Ribery looked like a kid whose bid to stand out amongst his mates went horribly wrong. Following Bayern's loss, football fans (mostly Anfield loyalists) targetted the French footballer for his surprising haircut.

Massive respect for Franck Ribery, who paid tribute to James Milner last night by shaving our midfielder's number into his hair, aged 35 ðð¾ pic.twitter.com/obRrL8zdNq
