Blind Man Scores Basket In First Try & The Way His Nephews React Is What Family Is All About

This story is not going to be about some hard-hitting facts about some sport or a shocking revelation about an athlete's past. No, this story is about the essence of sports and how it transcends every limitation and restriction that bounds a person in his day to day life from achieving greatness.

I am talking about a video that went viral on social media and for all the right reasons too. Uploaded on Twitter by @YoungBullBlade, the video shows his uncle standing in front of a basketball ring with a ball in his hands, in the family's backyard with his family members surrounding him with their cameras ready.

So what was all the fuss about? Turns out the man was completely blind and it was his first attempt of trying to score a basket. With his nephews cheering him on, getting him hyped up about his first shot, this man looked ready to let that ball fly.

“Shoot towards my voice, uncle. Right here. Right in front of you.” @YoungBullBlade said, to help his uncle get a sense of direction of where the ring was and without lingering on too much, the man released the ball which landed on the ring, hit the backboard and eventually sunk into the basket.

At this point, the blind uncle found himself smiling ear to ear, surrounded by his family members jumping all around him, brimming with excitement and sheer love.

And I know what you are thinking right now. “What's such a big deal with a blind man scoring a basket which is not even a part of competition?”

To which I say this: It is not always about competing, or playing only to decide who wins or loses. Sure in the world we live in now, sports, like any other profession, has gotten itself an ugly face of aggression and ruthlessness but every once in a while, somewhere, in some corner of the world, something like this happens that reminds us of the true purpose of sports.

Kudos to his family for making him feel so great about himself and allowing us the opportunity to get involved in celebrating his life
