India won the World Cup for the first time in 1983. It was a big moment for us and till date, Kapil Dev reminds us of the glorious days. Ranveer Singh's film '83 is based on the events surrounding the winning of the World Cup in 1983 and we couldn't be more excited. The unexpected victory in 1983 World Cup against West Indies was a major win for us back then. India hadn't hoped to bring the World Cup home this soon. 

Ranveer Singh with the '83 team are off to London for the film's shoot which is tentatively scheduled for three months. Ranveer takes special effort to get in the character for each film and for '83, he spent a couple of days at Kapil Dev's place to familiarise himself with the actual ongoings of 1983 World Cup. Directed by Kabir Khan, '83 will soon begin shooting. Keeping the team spirit alive, the cast reached the Mumbai airport on a team bus. The film '83 is scheduled to hit the screens in April next year.
