Apple today finally introduced the new iPod touch with subtle enhancements such as the inclusion of Apple's A10 Fusion chip. The chip will bring improved performance in games, and for the first time augmented reality (AR) features and Group FaceTime.

“We're making the most affordable iOS device even better with performance that is twice as fast as before, Group FaceTime and augmented reality starting at just $199,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple's vice president of Product Marketing. “The ultra-thin and lightweight design of iPod touch has always made it ideal for enjoying games, music and so much more wherever you go.”

The iPod touch will come in different storage options i.e. 32GB, 128GB and 256GB options. Users will be able to listen to music both offline and online via Apple Music and iTunes Store, including radio shows like Beats 1 Radio.

The iPod touch will also be able to take advantage of ARkit enabled games and apps for gaming, education and web browsing purposes. The iPod touch will also be able to pair up with AirPods just like it can with other iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad. 

The new iPod touch starts at Rs 18,900 for the 32GB model, Rs 28,900 for the 128GB model and Rs 38,900 for the 256GB model and is available through Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers. India availability dates are yet to confirmed but we expect them to hit store shelves soon.
