Delhi is under a blanket of pollution which has earned the city the sad reputation of being the most polluted city in the world. Hazardous pollution levels, burning of crops in the neighbouring states and a government which is maybe trying to resolve or ignore the situation, all of these factors are making breathing fresh air a luxury we certainly cannot afford right now. The Delhi government did implement the odd-even scheme and that helped to a tiny extent, but this problem calls for an urgent plan of action. To discuss this very situation and how to deal with it, a parliamentary meeting was called which was very conveniently, and sadly, skipped by some of the key members including DDA vice chairman Tarun Kapoor and even MP Gautam Gambhir. While it drew a lot of criticism, Gautam, being in the public eye for his community work and association with cricket, drew the maximum amount of attention. Apparently, Gautam was in Indore and a picture of him eating 'jalebis' went viral which didn't go too well with the internet.

Gautam tweeted out an official response to the criticism later explaining the fiasco.
My work will speak for itself!

Now, posters of 'lapata Gautam Gambhir' have been posted across Delhi to draw attention and looks like this controversy is not getting over for him any time soon.

— ANI (@ANI) November 17, 2019While there is no denying the work he has previously done and the efforts to spread awareness about various issues by him are worth mentioning, all government representatives need to understand and take responsibility for the position that they sometimes ignorantly enjoy as public servants. Not to forget, our MPs have decent salaries, good financial backing and perhaps all the money to install air purifiers at the homes. However, at a time when the capital city is stuggling to breathe, they need to be here to contribute in the decision making.
