The Twitter account of Rangoli Chandel, actor Kangana Ranautâs sister, and Manager, was suspended today.  This comes after a long line of tweets posted by Rangoli that managed to incite communal hatred and violence.

1. For this suspension specifically, one particular tweet was responsible. On April 15, Rangoli had tweeted claiming that the family of a Tablighi Jamaat member, who died of the coronavirus infection, had attacked police and doctors, but didnât share any details or report of the incident whatsoever.

2. The tweet was reportedly shared over 2,000 times and liked by 8,000 people. Since she did not have anything to back her claim, many users started condemning her for the post and sought police action. In fact, because the tweet was inciting hate on baseless grounds, the tweet got reported by a number of users.

3. Jewellery Designer Farah Khan said the tweet was âshocking beyond beliefâ. Director Reema Kagti who has directed Talaash called for police action against Chandel for inciting hatred and violence. Badminton player Jwala Gutta and actor Kubbra Sait from Sacred Games also condemned Chandel.

4. Following countless complaints, Twitter took action and suspended the verified account of Rangoli Chandel which had over 95,000 followers.

5. This wasn't the first time Chandel has posted hateful and violence-inciting tweets. Earlier, a viral tweet from her account called for the suspension of the 2024 Lok Sabha election given the economic crisis India is facing during the pandemic.

6. Last week, she claimed to have received a warning from Twitter. Following this, she called the social networking site âanti-nationalâ and said the platform would âgo to the graveyardâ if they suspended her account. In a tweet, she wrote, "Twitter giving me warnings, so basically you can abuse our PM call our home minister terrorist, give artists rape threats mock Hindu Gods and Gaumutra whole day but if you say anything about mullas twitter gets upset ..." not specifying which tweet triggered the warning.

7. She further added that if Twitter blocks her, she will find a new platform. "If they suspend my account will open my own YouTube channel where I will make Kangana's small videos saying what is there for everyone to see, we never said anything without evidence if twitter going to harass us we don't want to be here just wishing good morning and good evening."

We hope she uses other platforms more carefully so that they don't get suspended as well.
